Electrica de Piura launched a 185 MW thermal plant in northwestern Peru that will supply the national power grid in emergency situations. The plant, named Malacas, required an investment of USD 105 million (EUR 80.3 million). The unit will operate as a reserve for the Peruvian network, using natural gas and diesel.
