Sterling Weakens as China Concerns Grow

1334 GMT - Sterling falls to its lowest level since mid-June against a firmer dollar, tracking broad falls in riskier currencies as concerns grow about China's weakening economy, writes Samer Hasn, market analyst and part of the research team at XS.com. "This weakness in sterling today came with more negative data coming out of China," he says, referring to Chinese services purchasing managers indicators for August showing the slowest pace of growth since December. GBP/USD falls 0.5% to 1.2571, having earlier hit a low of 1.2527, according to FactSet. (emese.bartha@wsj.com)
