Logistics center expanding further to meet company growth
Geberit to expand its logistics site in Pfullendorf (DE)
Geberit AG, Rapperswil-Jona, December 10, 2014
The Geberit Group is increasing its logistics capacities in Pfullendorf in the south of Germany. Due to the very positive development of the business and the growing number of product variants required to meet the different needs of the international markets, the storage, order picking and shipping areas on site are no longer sufficient to meet the Group's needs.
Geberit supplies customers in over 100 countries from its logistics center in Pfullendorf. In addition to laying the groundwork for future growth, the agreed expansion will also see the introduction of innovative technologies and a further optimization of processes. Investments totaling some EUR
40 million are planned for this project.
The main features of the building project are the expansion and optimization of the long-goods storage area, the addition of a further 18,400 fully automated pallet storage spaces and the fully automated storage of 51,500 small containers. Furthermore, 15 additional loading bays and a new processing area of around 15,000 m2 will contribute to further improving and speeding up the logistics services for Geberit customers.
Following completion of the planning stage, construction is planned to start in spring 2015. The work is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2017 so that the extensions can commence operations the same year.
