(Alliance News) - Getech Group PLC on Wednesday said it has named Acting Chair Michael Covington as permanent chair and acting Chief Executive Officer Richard Bennett as permanent CEO.

Shares in Getech rose 11% to 8.88 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.

Bennett's appointment comes after CEO & Director Jonathan Copus stepped down last February after seven years in the role. Non-Executive Chair Bennett assume the role of interim executive chair following Copus; departure, after having joined the board in January 2021.

Meanwhile, Covington was hired as non-executive director in May after Alison Fielding retired.

Covington said: "I am very pleased to become chairman at this exciting time of considerable change and opportunity for Getech. The energy transition is already creating new markets for Getech and requirements for highly sustainable exploration in our traditional energy markets.

I believe the Getech team is strongly aligned with shareholder interests and motivated to drive growth and value creation."
