Grupo Catalana Occidente S A : Occident, the new brand of Seguros Catalana Occidente, renews its agreement with the Professional Association of Insurance Mediators of Granada

"As a result, Occident, the brand that will bring together the traditional business of GCO (Grupo Catalana Occidente), will continue to support the professional development of the sector in Andalusia."

Occident, the new brand of Seguros Catalana Occidente, and the Professional Association of Insurance Mediators of Granada have renewed their cooperation agreement for a further year. The brand that will bring together GCO's traditional business maintains the agreement that the two institutions established to consolidate the figure of the mediator in Granada and contribute to mediators' professional development.

As part of the agreement, Occident undertakes to participate in events and activities organised by the Association in 2024. The agreement was signed at the Association's premises in a ceremony attended by Genaro Sánchez, Chairman of the Association of Insurance Mediators of Granada, Francisco Turatti, Commercial Supervisor of Seguros Catalana Occidente's Canal Corredores de Almería, Granada y Jaén, and Laura Molero, Vice-Chair of the Association.

During the event, Mr Turatti noted that "the agreement we have signed will facilitate the joint development of initiatives to further improve mediation and the insurance sector". Mr Sánchez emphasised the importance of this type of cooperation "to continue building a strong role for the mediator". He also expressed his gratitude for the continuity of the cooperation, given "the important joint work being carried out to raise awareness of the role of mediators and contribute to their professional development".

At the end of February, Occident, the new brand of Seguros Catalana Occidente

(GCO) announced the merging of its traditional business companies (Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros, Seguros Bilbao and NorteHispana Seguros) under a single brand, Occident. This merger is part of the corporate simplification process that the insurance group put in motion years ago and aims to achieve a more streamlined organisation that responds quickly and effectively to market demands.

The unification process will be implemented in two phases: first, at the end of 2023, the merger of Seguros Catalana Occidente, Plus Ultra Seguros and Seguros Bilbao will take effect, and they will then operate under the Occident brand. In a second phase, at a later date, NorteHispana Seguros will also be included.
