Hapag-Lloyd has appointed Dheeraj Bhatia as a member of its executive board responsible for terminals and chief executive of a new business that will house the company's infrastructure holdings.

The German container-shipping company said Thursday that Bhatia, who joined the company in 2014 and has been senior managing director of the Middle East region since 2018, will become CEO of the new Rotterdam-based Hapag-Lloyd Terminal Holding, in which its infrastructure assets will be pooled.

Bhatia will join Hapag-Lloyd's executive board, where a new terminal-and-infrastructure portfolio will be established, from the beginning of next year, the company said.
