OSLO, Nov 23 (Reuters) - A Swedish prosecutor said on Thursday he had begun a preliminary investigation into suspected corruption concerning investments made by pension manager Alecta.

The probe was initiated at the suggestion of Sweden's financial industry regulator (FSA), and Alecta has handed over relevant material, prosecutor Johan Lindmark said in a statement.

The FSA earlier this month said it had asked police to investigate whether one or more people were guilty of corruption linked to Alecta's investment in property group Heimstaden Bostad.

Lindmark's office declined to say whether the preliminary investigation was linked to Alecta's investment in Heimstaden. (Reporting by Terje Solsvik, editing by Essi Lehto)
