New Delhi -Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, registered monthly domestic sales of 7 973 units in December 2021. The export numbers for HCIL stood at 1 165 units in Dec'21. The company had registered 8 638 units in domestic sales and 713 units of export in Dec'20.

Calendar Year 2021 sales result

HCIL registered a cumulative growth of over 26% selling 89 152 units during the calendar year 2021 (Jan - December). The company had registered domestic sales of 70 593 units in calendar year 2020 amidst operational restrictions to combat the COVID-19 health crisis.

With its reinforced export strategy from India by addition of left hand drive destinations for 5th Gen Honda City, HCIL exports grew by 600% with 16 340 units during CY'2021 against 2 334 units exported in CY'2020.

Reflecting on the year 2021, Mr. Yuichi Murata, Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, 'Year 2021 continued to be a challenging year with the ongoing pandemic, but I think we learnt to cope much better with it. Despite the COVID-led and supply-side challenges, HCIL domestic volume grew by 26% in CY'21 with strong performance of our best sellers Amaze and City. The addition of new export destinations for Honda City to left hand drive markets boosted our exports significantly last year.' 'Our December despatches were in line with our production output which continued to be impacted by global chip shortage,' he added.
