Oslo, January 12, 2010. Ignis ASA, today announced that they have entered into a
preferred supply agreement for delivery of AWGs to a leading Asian manufacturer
of optical components. The agreement has an order value of USD 3.4 to 4.5
million in 2010.

- We have invested substantial time and efforts in our Danish AWG fab to
position ourselves for agreements at this level. This deal supports our strategy
of delivering AWG components to the fast growing international broadband market
and we are working hard to further win business in both Asia and other rapidly
expanding market regions, says Magnus Breidne, CEO Ignis Photonyx.

AWGs are the best technology for improved cost/performance ratio in high speed
fiber networks having the lowest cost per channel, lowest fiber-to-fiber loss
and highest uniformity.  AWG is the preferred choice for high-channel counts as
compared to alternative technologies such as Thin Film Filters (TFF).

AWG technology is enabling WDM-PON architectures which is improving the
performance of high speed broadband networks. The penetration of WDM-PON
architectures is expected to grow increasingly faster from 2010 and Ignis is
very well positioned for supplying this market with highly competitive thermal
and athermal AWGs.

- We are experiencing increasing demand for our AWG technology and the timing of
taking our AWG products to the market looks promising. The significant
investments we have done in this technology over the last years is now starting
to pay off, says Magnus Breidne.
