Laureate Education, Inc. Announces Special Cash Distribution, Payable on December 28, 2021

Laureate Education, Inc. announced that its board of directors approved, pursuant to the previously announced adoption of a plan of partial liquidation (the Plan) related to the distribution of net proceeds from the Company's sale of Walden e-Learning LLC (the Sale), the payment of a special cash distribution (the Distribution) equal to $0.58 per each share of the Company's Common Stock, par value $0.004 per share, to each holder of record on December 14, 2021. The Distribution is scheduled to be paid on December 28, 2021. Based on the current number of shares outstanding, the aggregate amount of the Distribution is expected to be approximately $105 million.
Laureate Education, Inc. operates a portfolio of degree-granting higher education institutions (Laureate International Universities network) in Mexico and Peru. Laureate International Universities network offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degrees through campus-based, online and hybrid programs. It has approximately 450,000 students enrolled at five institutions with over 50 campuses. It has two segments: Mexico and Peru. It owns Universidad del Valle de Mexico (UVM) and Universidad Tecnologica de Mexico (UNITEC) in Mexico. Its institutions in Mexico and Peru offer traditional higher education students a private education alternative, with multiple brands and price points in each market and program.
