LAZARD LT : Masato Marumo Joins Lazard as a Managing Director, Investment Banking

Lazard Ltd (NYSE: LAZ) announced today that Masato Marumo has joined the firm as a Managing Director, Investment Banking, effective immediately. Mr. Marumo, who is based in Tokyo, joins the firm from Carlyle, and will work closely with Yasu Hatakeyama, President and CEO of Lazard Frères K.K.

"Marumo-san has an outstanding reputation and he will be a tremendous addition to our senior team in Tokyo,? said Mr. Hatakeyama. ?His extensive knowledge and senior level contacts, particularly within the TMT sector, as well as his unique expertise as a private equity pioneer in this market will be of great benefit to our clients.?

Mr. Marumo spent ten years at the Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm, most recently as a Partner as well as a Managing Director of Carlyle Japan Partners, a Japan dedicated buyout fund. Prior to joining Carlyle in 2001, Mr. Marumo spent ten years with the Industrial Bank of Japan (currently, Mizuho Corporate Bank). He received an MBA from Harvard Business School and BA in Law from Keio University.
