Lazard Ltd (NYSE: LAZ) announced today that Andrés Velasco, former Finance Minister of Chile and founding partner of SCL Partners, will serve as a Senior Advisor to the firm, globally, effective immediately.

Mr. Velasco served as Finance Minister of Chile for four years through March of 2010. He has also been a consultant to the International Monetary Fund, the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. Since 2000, Mr. Velasco has been a Professor at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and is currently a Visiting Professor at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.

Mr. Velasco holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Political Economy at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
