04 February 2022 Western Australia Freight Delays Severe erosion and damage caused by heavy rainfall has resulted in the closure of the rail line in and out of Western Australia. With freight currently unable to move via rail, increased pressure has been placed on the road network resulting in heavy congestion, decreased vehicle availability and lead time delays.

Urgent repair works are currently underway on the rail lines however due to the severity of the damage, the estimated timeframe for rail restoration is currently 10-12 days. Once the rail lines are reopened delays are likely to be felt into the coming weeks as the backlog of freight is cleared.

The timeliness of our service in and out of Western Australia is likely to be impacted for a number of weeks. We ask that you please contact your local Mainfreight team to discuss any concerns around your current Western Australian freight requirements.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time and please be assured our team are focused on delivering the best possible service in the current circumstances.
