Through National Grid's Electric Vehicle Charging Station Make-Ready Program, commercial customers across Upstate New York can convert to electric fleets and install electric vehicle (EV) charging station infrastructure at little to no cost.

Fleet Advisory Services Program
National Grid's newly launched Fleet Advisory Services Program is available to commercial customers across Upstate New York who are considering electrifying their fleets. Fleet Advisory Services include design and logistics support, and a thorough fleet assessment, which provides valuable insight into site feasibility, rate analysis, estimated bill impacts and other recommendations. This way, National Grid can assist operators with making informed decisions about the transition of their commercial fleets to electric vehicles.

As examples, National Grid is supporting transit authorities in Buffalo and Albany, which are electrifying their bus fleets. Electrifying buses improves access to clean transportation for disadvantaged and vulnerable communities and supports healthier neighborhoods.

Background
The program, which offers substantial financial incentives, was created to accelerate the EV market transition by implementing public charging initiatives and creating charging infrastructure that supports Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act goals as well as New York State's zero-emission vehicle goal of deploying 850,000 EVs across New York State by 2025. National Grid's program was created as part of a state-wide joint utility program under New York State's EV Make-Ready Public Service Commission Order. National Grid's program is one of the country's most ambitious EV efforts that supports equitable access to clean transportation choices and building a reliable charging network.

Benefits to Customers
Through incentives that are offered to businesses, municipalities, school districts seeking to electrify their fleets, the program funds up to 100 percent of electric infrastructure costs related to installing electric vehicle charging stations. In addition to providing visitors, employees and tenants with connectivity and convenience, National Grid customers who take advantage of the program will save on fuel costs over equivalent gas and diesel transportation alternatives, all the while demonstrating a commitment to sustainability.

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

By providing greater access and more charging options, National Grid's program supports the growth of EV use while balancing the transportation ecosystem, which is the largest contributor of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S., according to the Environmental Protection Agency. The program also will mitigate climate change, improve air quality, amplify access to cleaner transportation in underserved communities, and reduce our national reliance on petroleum.

National Grid's efforts to partner with customers to convert their fleets to electric vehicles aligns with the company's Project C initiative, which is focused on inspiring positive change in every community that we serve.
