NCC will build a new school with associated sports hall and schoolyard in partnership with the City of Västerås in Sweden. The new school will be located in Fredriksdal, part of the growing Gäddeholm area, east of Västerås. NCC has entered into a partnership with the City of Västerås to build a new school with associated sports hall for 700 students aged 6-16 years. The new school will also be prepared to accommodate an additional 450 students in the future. The school building will have a floor area of nearly 13,000 square meters and the sports hall will be almost 3,000 square meters.

The school will also feature a large schoolyard. The school building will consist of two L-shaped buildings made of wood and brick. The building will harmonize with the existing architecture in the area in terms of color, material and design.

A large geothermal heating and solar power system will be built to reduce energy costs when the school is in use, helping the school to meet the environmental requirements for a Miljöbyggnad Silver rating. The order value is approximately SEK 450 million and will be registered in the NCC Building Sweden business area in the first quarter of 2024. The project will commence in the first quarter of 2024 and is scheduled for completion in autumn 2026.
