Japan Freight Railway Company agreed to acquire 29.71% stake in Nippon Pallet Pool Co., Ltd. (JASDAQ:4690) from Rakuten General Insurance Co., Ltd. on September 27, 2018. Japan Freight Railway Company will acquire 0.25 million shares of Nippon Pallet Pool Co., Ltd. After the transaction, Rakuten General Insurance Co., Ltd will hold no stake in Nippon Pallet Pool Co., Ltd. The transaction is expected to be completed on September 28, 2018.

NIPPON PALLET POOL CO., LTD. is a Japan-based company mainly engaged in the provision of pallet rental services. The Company is engaged in the rental of cargo handling and transportation equipment such as wooden pallets, plastic pallets, supporters, nesters, roll boxes, containers, racks, carts and others, as well as the operation of the pallet pool. The pallet pool operation business is engaged in the provision of pallet rental and recycling services for customers in pallets storage and management bases through the same standard pallets sharing and circulating system, as well as the provision of repair, maintenance and management services for pallets. The general palletization promotion business is engaged in the provision of unloading and transshipping services for cargo loaded on pallets, as well as transportation and storage services using forklifts and other loading equipment.
