Nokia announced on Monday that Philippine telecom operator Globe Telecom has chosen its AVA Energy Efficiency software to reduce energy consumption and associated costs on its network.

The AVA solution, which will be deployed as a software-as-a-service ('SaaS') solution, uses artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to determine when to put idle and unused equipment on standby during periods of low usage.

Nokia states that during test phases, Globe was able to achieve energy savings of between 3% and 6%.
