Nokia today announced the launch of MX Grid.

This solution combines artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to improve responsiveness and decision-making in OT (Operational Technology, i.e. solutions enabling the use of hardware and software to control industrial equipment) by processing and analyzing data as close to the source as possible.

MX Grid accelerates the adoption of Industry 4.0, leveraging the Nokia MX Industrial Edge (MXIE) platform and reliable wireless connectivity, to deliver a new data processing architecture.

MX Grid leverages a pool of orchestrated, compute-capable field devices - known as 'micro-edges' - with a specialized AI-enabled software stack.

'The solution enables more efficient implementation of a wide range of critical industrial applications, including predictive maintenance, safety and monitoring, worker safety, tracking and positioning, and quality assurance', Nokia points out.
