Communicate values right from the beginning

Heidenheim, September 3, 2014. Fifty-one apprentices and students of the Dual University Baden-Württemberg (DHBW), Heidenheim, started their Group-wide vocational training at PAUL HARTMANN AG on Monday this year with a one-week introductory program. They will be trained in more than fifteen disciplines at the Heidenheim, Herbrechtingen and Brück locations.

Dual University students of PAUL HARTMANN AG

Key topics of the introductory training include the values and goals of the company as well as the recently established junior company YoungTalents. Training Manager Ute Wiedemann: "It is important for us to teach our apprentices and students from the beginning the values we consider important in the HARTMANN GROUP and to let them know what themes they should focus on in their daily work. These include, for example, personal responsibility, self-reliance and customer focus."

Using a variety of didactic techniques, ranging from well-developed theater scenes from older apprentices' daily routines to product plays, the new apprentices and students will get to know the company and the works council members and youth and apprentice representatives. They will receive an overview of the training goals and schedules and visit the Logistics Center South, the Herbrechtingen plant and the new Medical Innovation Center, which opened in July.

An informal afternoon meeting of the apprentices with their mentors will be another highlight of the introductory week. The mentors are apprentices and students who are in their second or third year of apprenticeship and offer advice and tips for the newcomers.
