(Alliance News) - Proton Motor Power Systems PLC on Tuesday said that it has received an order from an unnamed supplier of gas related energy and infrastructure in Spain for a standalone fuel cell system.

The London-based designer and producer of hydrogen fuel cells and hydrogen fuel cell electric hybrid systems said that the system, which is based on a 50 kilowatt container solution, will be deployed at a hotel in Palma de Mallorca as part of the Green Hysland project.

The Green Hysland project aims to turn Mallorca into the first hydrogen hub in southern Europe by producing green hydrogen from solar energy and delivering it for use by the island's tourism, transport, industry and energy sectors.

Proton expects to deliver the system in the first half of next year, with revenues correspondingly recognised in that year.

"This is the company's first order from within Spain and therefore represents a further expansion in its market footprint. It also demonstrates the versatility of the company's offer, with the standalone solution being used across a variety of industries to deliver reliable, secure and clean energy for a range of business-critical systems," said Chief Executive Officer Faiz Nahab.

Proton Motor shares were trading 1.5% lower at 8.62 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
