22 October 2021

Gazprom Neft's Moscow Refinery has finished the modernisation of its heavy-oil-fractions refining unit - the works carried out facilitating higher production of light petroleum products, resulting in a 0.75% increase in annual diesel production, including advanced winter grades. This project has been undertaken as part of the full-scale modernisation programme at the Moscow Refinery being undertaken by Gazprom Neft since 2011.

The facility's productivity is up 50% thanks to these works, with specialists having upgraded pumping, heat-exchanging and air-cooling systems. The facility is fully connected to the plant's emergency protection and digital process-control systems.

"Ongoing improvements to existing facilities is an important part of modernising the Moscow Refinery. Cutting-edge technologies, new equipment and increasing automation mean we can continue improving efficiency and environmental friendliness in production."
Vitaly ZuberDirector General, Gazprom Neft Moscow Refinery.
Notes for editors

Gazprom Neft is undertaking a major programme to modernise its Moscow and Omsk Refineries. The first stage of this modernisation has involved the construction and reconstruction of key technological facilities, allowing the complete transition to the production of Euro-5 fuels, significantly improving energy efficiency and environmental friendliness in production. The implementation of the second phase of this modernisation programme is now ongoing, as a result of which the refining depth ("conversion factor") and light product yield are expected to match the highest international standards.
