RAK Ceramics Bangladesh Limited announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021. For the second quarter, the company announced sales was BDT 1,534.984 million compared to BDT 503.194 million a year ago. Operating income was BDT 257.712 million compared to operating loss of BDT 256.122 million a year ago. Net income was BDT 220.529 million compared to net loss of BDT 188.462 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was BDT 0.52 compared to basic loss per share from continuing operations of BDT 0.44 a year ago. For the half year, sales was BDT 3,268.700 million compared to BDT 1,972.258 million a year ago. Operating income was BDT 559.343 million compared to operating loss of BDT 57.661 million a year ago. Net income was BDT 435.563 million compared to net loss of BDT 36.767 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was BDT 1.02 compared to basic loss per share from continuing operations of BDT 0.09 a year ago.
RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) Limited is engaged in manufacturing and marketing of ceramics tiles, washroom sets and all types of sanitary ware. The Company operates through three segments: Ceramics and Sanitary Ware, Power, and Security and services. The Ceramics and Sanitary Ware segment is engaged in manufacturing and marketing of ceramics tiles, bathroom sets and all types of sanitary ware. The Power segment is engaged in setting-up power utilities and operates power-generating plants, transmission system and distribution system and to sell the generated electric power to any legal entity. The Security and services segment is engaged in providing security guard, cleaning services, verification services, termite and pest control services and set up manpower technical training. The Company has the capacity to produce approximately 118 million square meters of tiles, five million pieces of sanitaryware, 24 million pieces of porcelain tableware and one million pieces of faucets per year.
