REA Vipingo Plantations Limited is engaged in the cultivation of sisal and the production of sisal fiber and also acts as a holding company. The Company's segments include Agriculture and Spinning. The Company owns and operates sisal business, whose activities include manufacture, spinning and export of sisal fiber and sisal products. It includes sisal estates in Kenya and Tanzania; a spinning mill in Tanga, Tanzania, and warehouses in the ports of Mombasa, Kenya and Tanga, Tanzania. The Company produces all the main grades of African sisal, including the grade No.1. Other grades of sisal available from the Company includes No.2, 3L (3 Long), No.3 (3 short), UG, SSUG and Tow 1. It produces sisal for export in approximately 100 kilograms, 200 kilograms and 250 kilograms bales. The Amboni spinning mill produces sisal yarns and twines in the range of 150 millimeters (mm) to 900 meters per kilogram, and sisal ropes in the range of 5 mm to 40 mm for the international market.
