SGS SA This standard is applicable to knitted garments for infants and children which are made mainly from knitted fabrics.
Terms and Definitions-
Knitted garments for infants
knitted garments intended to be worn by infants less than 36 months of age.
Note: knitted garments generally worn by infants less than 100 cm in height may be considered as knitted garments for infants. - Knitted garments for children
knitted garments intended to be worn by children ages 3 years to 14 years.
Note: knitted garments worn by girls less than 100 cm and not greater than 155 cm in height, or by boys less than 100 cm and not greater than 160 cm in height may be considered as knitted garments for children. Therefore, knitted garments worn by children less than 130 cm in height may be considered as garments for children under the age of 7 years.
Requirements include internal quality and appearance quality.

Internal quality
Includes fibre content, formaldehyde content, pH value, odour, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amines, bursting strength, pilling, dimensional change after laundering, dimensional change after dry-cleaning, spirality after laundering, colourfastness to saliva, colourfastness to water, colour fastness to perspiration, colourfastness to laundering, colourfastness to rubbing, colourfastness to dry-cleaning, colourfastness to light, colourfastness to light with artificial perspiration, colourfastness to transfer in joints, water-vapour transmission rate, tensile strength for clothes' belts, extractable heavy metal content, total heavy metal contents, phthalates contents, flammability, attached components, filling material, appearance quality after laundering (dry-cleaning), residual metal needle, down-proof property of down garment. The detailed requirements can refer to table 1 of this standard. - Appearance quality
Includes appearance defects, dimension tolerance, dimension difference in symmetric positions, sewing requirements and raw materials. The detailed requirements can refer to clause 5.4 of this standard.
