Group Chief Executive's Statement

"Climate change is one of the most significant global challenges we face today. It is a critical issue impacting our clients, advisers, employees, suppliers, charities and wider society."

Andrew Croft, Chief Executive

Welcome to St. James's Place Group'sclimate-related disclosures report, which will explain how we are taking action on climate change.

Climate change is one of the most significant global challenges we face today. It is a critical issue impacting our clients, advisers, employees, suppliers, charities and wider society. We recognise that financial services have a central role to play in the shift to a lower-carbon economy, and are consequently committed to being a positive and proactive force in that transition.

The past two years have seen the coronavirus pandemic bring suffering on a global scale, and we are now witnessing a world with intersecting crises unfolding at once. But against this backdrop we must collaborate, innovate, and build back better.

Our responsibility as leaders is to ensure we take action to identify, measure and manage climate-related risks and opportunities and build a sustainable future for society. Our ambition is to be a leading responsible business in the UK, and this year we agreed our Responsible Business framework, with Climate Change as one of our four pillars, alongside Financial Wellbeing, Community Impact and Responsible Investing. Responsible investing is a vital part of our climate strategy, both for creating a positive impact on the world around us and allowing us to respond to opportunities posed by the transition to a lower-carbon economy.

We know that effective and transparent disclosure can lead to real change and are therefore pleased to share our second report on climate-related disclosures, aligned to the TCFD recommendations.
