3 years to change 150k lives, double renewables, cut carbon and balance gender
April 30, 2021

SThree's first-ever ESG Report has been announced today.

It outlines the group's ambitious targets to 2024 in line with UN Sustainable Development Goals (2019 baseline year):

  • Positively impact 150,000 lives
  • Doubling the share of global renewables business
  • Reducing absolute carbon emissions by 20%
  • Increasing gender representation at all leadership levels to 50/50

The report from the only global pure-play STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) staffing specialists also includes an overview of ESG activity and successes to date.

In 2020, over 14,000 people accessed decent work through SThree placements, the company's renewable business grew 20% and 989 people benefitted from community programmes that help to overcome barriers to work - a growing challenge exacerbated by Covid-19.

In response to worsening education and employment inequality caused by the ongoing health crisis, SThree also launched its inaugural STEM Career Pathways programme. Working alongside an accredited training provider, candidate communities and clients, SThree's recruitment experts have empowered hundreds of people from underserved communities to gain qualifications.

Gemma Branney, Global Head of ESG for SThree said: 'We've made great strides in progressing our ESG strategy over the past 12 months, most importantly in setting ourselves tangible ESG targets.

'These targets not only challenge us to be focused on what we need to achieve in terms of sustainability in the years to come, they underpin our growth as a Group - we believe sustainability and business success are interwoven. We are also pleased to have committed to being transparent in measuring ourselves against these targets, and to holding ourselves accountable in our annual impact report.

'We've already changed the lives of tens of thousands of people around the globe. And we want to continue taking meaningful and deliberate actions to tackle some of the biggest challenges we face in society, to build a better, more sustainable future for everyone.'
