On December 1, Sunonwealth Electric Machine Industry Co., Ltd., along with top executives from its ten key suppliers across Taiwan, held a kickoff conference for the 'Sunon and Supplier Chain Carbon Reduction Transformation Initiative' in the Kaohsiung headquarters. Over the next 18 months, Sunon is committed to collaborating closely with its supply chain to spearhead carbon reduction efforts.

Sunon's visionary project, fully subsidized by the Industrial Development Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs under the 'Smart and Low Carbon Transformation Subsidy Plan for a Major Manufacturing and Supply Chain', will integrate an advanced smart system over the next 18 months. Sunon aims to collaborate with Avertronics Inc., Li Yo Powder Metallurgy Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Taiwan Keioh Co., Ltd., Tung Heng Cheng Co., Ltd., Sherrn-Jou Electric Co., Ltd., Flatek, Inc., Push Power Enterprise Co., Ltd., Jyh Hsiang Precision Machinery Co., Ltd., Chiefcon Electronics Co., Ltd., and Chen Fa Paper Co. and to synchronize greenhouse gas (GHG) assessments and product carbon footprint analysis across the supply chain, laying the groundwork for future carbon reduction endeavors.

Apart from integrating GHG and product carbon footprint tracking systems into its supply chain, Sunon is also introducing cutting-edge low-carbon process equipment, including heat pumps. The entirety of its Kaohsiung facility will be equipped with smart power meters, aligning with ISO 50001 standards to execute rigorous energy management practices, all in pursuit of achieving substantial energy savings and carbon reduction.

Sunon has set the year 2022 as the base year of its corporate-level GHG inventory, steadfastly advancing its carbon reduction plans. As of June this year, Sunon has received assurances from the accredited third-party certification body on its corporate-level GHG Inventory and its Corporate Sustainability Report. The forthcoming Philippines factory will be constructed using eco-friendly architectural methods, targeting a LEED Gold certification and featuring solar power installations, marking a significant stride towards green and smart manufacturing.
