BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (AP) _ Surgery Partners Inc. (SGRY) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $5.5 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Brentwood, Tennessee-based company said it had net income of 10 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, were 9 cents per share.

The surgical facilities operator posted revenue of $548.3 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $116.1 million, or $3.19 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.86 billion.

Surgery Partners shares have climbed 40% since the beginning of the year. The stock has more than quadrupled in the last 12 months.
