Scientex Packaging Berhad agreed to acquire 80.2% stake in Malaysia Packaging Industry Berhad from Taisei Lamick Co., Ltd. (TSE:4994) for MYR 63.8 million on September 2, 2022. The Proposed Acquisition will be funded by internally generated funds and/or bank borrowings. Barring any unforeseen circumstances and subject to all relevant approvals being obtained, the Proposed Acquisition is estimated to be completed in 2nd half of year 2022. As of September 23, 2022, The Board of Directors of Scientex announced that all the conditions precedent as set out in sell agreement have been satisfied.

Taisei Lamick Co., Ltd. is a Japan-based company mainly engaged in the development, manufacture and sale of packaging films and liquid filling machines. The Company is engaged in the manufacture and sale of laminated films for packaging instant noodle liquid soups, dressings, sauces, wasabi, soy sauces and other liquids, the manufacture and sale of general laminated products such as pouches for retort food, films for powder and dried products, and pouches for refillable detergents, as well as the development, manufacture and sale of liquid filling machines under the name DANGAN for filling contents into liquid filling films. The Company is also engaged in the logistics business, the maintenance business, and the advisory business.
