BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - Despite progress in repairing destroyed fiber optic cables, the disruptions at telecommunications provider Tele Columbus continue for thousands of customers in Berlin. Of the approximately 100,000 TV households affected, around 58,000 now have reception again, the company announced on Friday. Of the 25,000 affected Internet customers, in turn, only 11,000 are back on the network. The company, which sells Internet and TV connections among other things under the Pyur brand, does not expect the repair work to be fully completed until Sunday morning.

During civil engineering work by third parties, two large fiber optic cables had been destroyed over a length of around 200 meters in the Rummelsburg district on Wednesday, as the company had announced. "In the properties connected via them, there was a failure of all services," it said./maa/DP/ngu
