Thales Alenia Space has signed a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for the supply of a global solution for the LEO-PNT (Low Earth Orbit Positioning Navigation and Timing) orbital demonstrator.

The contract covers the space (5 satellites to be launched), ground and user segments, in-orbit operations (including
deorbiting), launch, user test segment, experimentation and demonstration of the service within user environments representative of different business sectors.

' By adding a layer to the current Galileo global satellite navigation system and enhancing user receivers, the LEO-PNT constellation will foster new applications and boost economic growth, while helping to reduce CO2 emissions through lower fossil fuel consumption and more efficient management of the energy grid', said Hervé Derrey, Chairman and CEO of Thales Alenia Space.
