Our thoughts and sympathies are with Chris Hodgkinson and his family at this time.

While The Coca-Cola Company wishes to be as respectful to Mr. Hodgkinson and his family as possible during this difficult time, we offer the following comment on the facts of this tragic situation.

We concur with the information shared by the Coroner's office that the grossly excessive ingestion of any food product, including water, over a short period of time with the inadequate consumption of essential nutrients, and the failure to seek appropriate medical intervention when needed, can be dramatically symptomatic.

The safety of our products is paramount, and our promise is to deliver safe, quality products. We believe that all foods and beverages can have a place in a balanced and sensible diet combined with an active lifestyle. The foundation of good nutrition is balance, variety and moderation.

The Coroner has not issued any findings in this matter. Therefore it is not appropriate to comment any further.
