(Alliance News) - M&G PLC on Monday said the chair of Edinburgh Investment Trust PLC, Elisabeth Stheeman, will join its board in August, bringing a "wide mix of executive and non-executive experience" to the firm.

The London-based investment manager has appointed Stheeman as an independent non-executive director.

Stheeman's appointment will take effect on August 1.

Stheeman served on the Bank of England's Financial Policy Committee until this past February and on its Financial Markets Infrastructure board until December.

Stheeman is currently chair of Edinburgh Investment Trust, a FTSE 250-listed UK-focused investor.

Chair Edward Braham said: "I am delighted we have attracted someone of Elisabeth's calibre to the M&G board. She brings a wide mix of executive and non-executive experience across a range of sectors and geographies that will be valuable in supporting our growth and transformation journey."

Shares in M&G were up 0.3% at 200.90 pence each in London on Monday morning. Edinburgh Investment Trust was up 0.2% at 702.18 pence each.
