Our youngsters continue their quest to top their group in the NextGen Series at Spurs Lodge this afternoon (Wednesday, November 23).

Victory against FC Basel will go a long way to achieving that goal ahead of the knockout stages of the all-new European competition for Under-19s.

We top Group Four after three wins and a draw in our first four group matches.

However, Inter can still leapfrog us if we slip-up against Basel as we then travel to Milan for our final group match on December 8.

Technical Co-Ordinator Tim Sherwood is determined to top the group but knows we're in for a stern examination against Basel this afternoon.

The Swiss team provided our toughest test yet in the first match of the group stages back in August.

They stormed to a 2-0 lead in the first half that day before Tim's team hauled it back for a 2-2 draw.

They haven't looked back since - it's three wins out of three including impressive victories against Inter and PSV, a 4-1 victory last time out on October 19.

"The first half in Basel was a bit of a shock to the system but we fought back and could have won the game in the end," said Tim.

"But they were impressive and I know they take this competition very seriously, so they will come here ready and looking to beat us.

"We just want to maintain our form in the competition and, most importantly, play well.

"It's been a great competition for us, we've learned a lot about the lads so far and that's what it's there for."
