Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya has dragged her husband, Stephen Saibulu, to court claiming that he is physically and emotionally abusive.

The Environment Cabinet Secretary is asking the court to grant her custody over their two children following his husband actions.

In the documents submitted to court, the Cabinet Secretary CS is not only seeking custody of her two children but Sh425,000 for their upkeep.

"The Respondent relentlessly treats the Plaintiff/Applicant, their children, and the applicant's domestic workers with cruelty and has been psychologically, emotionally, and verbally abusive,"

"Owing to the abusive and erratic nature of the Respondent, the Plaintiff/Applicant, their children, and the applicant's domestic workers have been living in mortal fear for their lives,"the court papers read.

Tuya is seeking Sh225,000, which is half the amount of the school fees needed for the two children.

She is also asking for Sh100,000 to cater for the expense of maintaining the children and Sh100,000, for the children's monthly entertainment.

Through law firm Daniel Ondabu and Company Advocates, CS Tuya is seeking protection order for her children and her domestic workers against her husband.

"That the Court be pleased to issue a permanent injunction directed to and restraining the Defendant herein either by himself, his servants or agents from abusing the plaintiff and their children physically, emotionally, verbally or insulting, ridiculing and issuing threats of whatever nature by any means to the plaintiff and their children..."the court papers read.

Tuya lamented that the husband has never filed any response in the case despite serving him with the court papers.

The Cabinet Secretary told the court that his husband has failed to be responsible but instead resorted to threats.

"Despite the plaint being served upon him on September 1 and acknowledgement of receipt, he has not filed nor served me with any documents nor entered an appearance to that effect," the court papers read.

"In December last year, he insulted me in a text message denying paternity of the two minors, demanding for a DNA test to ascertain his biological connection to the children," it added.

Tuya decried there she has been the sole bread winner in the family since October 2020 by catering for all expenses including 100 per cent of school fees as well as their full monthly maintenance and upkeep.

"Since our split in October 2020, he has refused to pay any share of school fees for the children despite being able to meet the same," the court documents read.
