Vector Group Ltd. announced that it has appointed technology industry veteran, Wilson L. White, to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Mr. White currently serves as Senior Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy at Google. With Mr. White’s appointment, Vector Group’s Board expands to 10 directors. In his current role at Google, Mr. White is responsible for managing a global team focused on advising senior product leadership on government affairs and public policy for the company’s core business units, as well as developing and executing external advocacy initiatives on artificial intelligence, privacy and security, competition and other issue areas. Prior to assuming this role in 2013, Mr. White served as a patent litigation attorney on Google’s legal team and was previously a patent litigator for the intellectual property practice of Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP. This role was preceded by various positions in the legal and engineering industries, including as a federal judicial law clerk for the District of Maryland, a software developer for IBM and a software engineer for I-Cubed. Currently, Mr. White also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on the legal aspects of entrepreneurship. Mr. White is engaged in numerous philanthropic and community activities. He serves as Board Chair of the Black Bank Fund, which aims to raise and invest $250 million into Black banks throughout the United States by 2025. Mr. White also serves on the Boards of the University of North Carolina School of Law Foundation and the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics Foundation.
