Zorlu Enerji receives another grant within the scope of Horizon 2020 with its "eCharge4Drivers" project

Including the joint efforts of 32 partners, including Zorlu Energy from 11 European countries, the "eCharge4Drivers Project" was awarded a grant from the European Union's Horizon 2020 framework program. The European Union will provide 14 million Euros of support for four years to the "eCharge4Drivers Project," aiming to provide users with an advanced electric car charging experience to accelerate the transition to electric cars across Europe.

Sinan Ak, CEO of Zorlu Enerji, stated about the project: "One of the basic needs of the zero-carbon target strategy by 2050 is digital transformation. Therefore, electrification will be one of the crucial issues of the upcoming period. We are also continuing our efforts to accelerate the electric car transition in Turkey and Europe. In this direction, the European Union's support to eCharge4Drivers project, which we joined with our ZES and electrip brands, shows us that we are taking the right steps in this direction."

The electric car charging stations network, Zorlu Energy Solutions (ZES), which isone of Zorlu Enerji's largest investments to implement new generation technologies contributing to the proliferation of environmentally-friendly electric cars, and the electric brand, hourly electric vehicle rental platform, are among the partners of the eCharge4Drivers project -which was also launched in Europe for this purpose.

While electric car sales are overgrowing across Europe, users are still struggling to find suitable charging options. In this context, the eCharge4Drivers project, which will be implemented to increase the ease of use of electric cars, aims to significantly improve the electric car charging experience in cities and intercity travels.

With the eCharge4Drivers project, developed in line with users' expectations regarding charging options, mobility, and parking habits, it aims to establish pilot projects in 10 regions in Europe, including cities and the Trans-European Transport Network.

About the project, eCharge4Drivers Project Coordinator and ICCS (Institute of Communication and Computer Systems) Research Director Dr. Angelos Amditis commented: "The eCharge4Drivers project brings together 32 major electromobility actors in Europe. It will significantly improve the overall user experience and develop suitable solutions when charging electric cars. The project also aims to adapt to electric cars and to contribute to the European Green Deal's transition to the zero-emission transportation system."
