Consumer Study Shows How Convenience Wins Out in Fight for Brand Loyalty

New York, New York - November 132018 - Paribus from Capital One, the revolutionary price protection app that helps users save money on their online purchases, released the results of a comprehensive survey of consumers taken in the lead-up to the 2018 holiday shopping season. Conducted in partnership with Wakefield Research and based on a poll of 1,500 US adults, the study shows that while value and low prices initially bring consumers into stores, efficiency and consumer-friendly policies like price adjustments build loyalty and keep them coming back.

'Paribus was built around the idea that consumers deserve to get the best price possible when they shop online - and we know that many retailers have great policies to ensure that happens,' says Jenna Kaye-Kauderer, Head of Paribus. 'The results of this survey show that these policies are key to building brand loyalty - and that consumers want to take advantage of them where possible. We're proud that Paribus empowers consumers by providing them with the tools that make getting the best deals from leading retailers convenient and simple.'

Released as a Consumer Trends Guide, the survey data details what consumers value most as we enter the holiday shopping season, including:

72% of consumers name price as the leading factor in their shopping decisions - but over 1/3 of consumers include return policies and customer service as top factors in their shopping choices.More than 2/3 of shoppers say they are likely to never return to a retailer if they have a bad return or exchange experience.Consumers list shipping costs and difficult return policies as their top pet peeves when shopping online.90% of consumers are more likely to shop at retailers that offer money back on items that drop in price.
