Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) today announced that Maria Lindenberg was appointed chief procurement officer, effective Jan. 1, 2013. Lindenberg succeeds Leo Lonergan, who will retire from the company Feb. 1, 2013, after 36 years of distinguished service.

"Over the last seven years, Leo led the transformation of our Procurement and Supply Chain Management organization into a highly skilled, enterprise-focused function, delivering strong supplier engagement," said Executive Vice President Jim Blackwell. "During his tenure as chief procurement officer, Leo demonstrated a passion for integrity and transparency in all third-party relationships and served as a key member of our senior management team. We thank Leo for his many years of service and contributions to Chevron."

Lindenberg, who most recently was general manager of Supply Chain Management for Chevron's Southern Africa Strategic Business Unit, will oversee Chevron's enterprisewide supply chain management activities. She will reside in Houston, Texas.

"Maria brings more than 30 years of broad supply chain management experience in the oil and gas industry into her new role," Blackwell said. "Her functional knowledge and international industry experience, coupled with her proven leadership and relationship management skills, enables her to continue Chevron's drive for supply chain management excellence."

Lonergan, who began his career in 1976 with Caltex New Zealand, was appointed chief procurement officer in 2005.

Lindenberg joined Chevron in 2007 as vice president, Global Downstream Procurement. She then moved to general manager, Contracting and Procurement for Chevron Project Resources Company, and assumed her most recent assignment based in Luanda, Angola in 2011

Chevron is one of the world's leading integrated energy companies, with subsidiaries that conduct business worldwide. The company is involved in virtually every facet of the energy industry. Chevron explores for, produces and transports crude oil and natural gas; refines, markets and distributes transportation fuels and lubricants; manufactures and sells petrochemical products; generates power and produces geothermal energy; provides energy efficiency solutions; and develops the energy resources of the future, including biofuels. Chevron is based in San Ramon, Calif. More information about Chevron is available at www.chevron.com.
