Timothy Lankester

Mr. Lankester was appointed a Non-Executive Director of Mitchells & Butlers in May 2003.
He is President of Corpus Christi College, Oxford.
From 1973 to 1995, he was a member of the Civil Service, rising to be Deputy Secretary of H.M.
Treasury, Permanent Secretary, Overseas Development Administration, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Permanent Secretary, Department for Education.
He served as Private Secretary at 10 Downing Street to Rt Hon James Callaghan and Rt Hon Margaret Thatcher and represented the UK on the Boards of the World Bank and the IMF.
Since leaving the Civil Service, he has been Director, School of Oriental and African Studies, London University, Deputy Chairman of the British Council and has held Non-Executive Directorships of CU/CGU and Smith & Nephew.
