Producers of metals, grains and other raw materials rose as traders bet the sector would benefit from shortages and rising commodity prices.

Mosaic shares ticked down after the fertilizer maker warned its business was pinched by shortages of raw material. The global fertilizer market was already stretched before the Iran war, and now the combination of war and Chinese export restrictions have sent prices soaring and caused a global shortage of phosphate fertilizers, Mosaic warned.

Cattle futures briefly fell after the Trump administration moved to temporarily reduce tariffs on beef imports.

Front-month silver futures jump 6.3% to $85.49 a troy ounce, its fifth straight increase.
