STORY: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday he has ordered the military to expand operations in southern Lebanon.
He cited ongoing rocket fire from militant group Hezbollah.
"In Lebanon, I have just instructed to further expand the existing security zone in order to decisively thwart the threat of invasion and to push anti-tank missile fire away from our border."
Last week, Israel announced it was enlarging a "buffer zone" up to the Litani River.
It is unclear if Netanyahu's new order refers to that same area or involves seizing more territory.
His office gave no details, and the security cabinet hasn't discussed it yet.
Iran-backed Hezbollah began firing rockets into Israel after the U.S. and Israel launched air strikes on Iran.
Sources say more than 400 fighters from the group have been killed since the fighting began.
According to Lebanon's health ministry, Israeli strikes and ground operations have killed more than 1,100 people.
That includes, children, women and medical staff.
The Israeli military says four of its soldiers have been killed in the fighting in southern Lebanon.
Netanyahu said the latest decision aimed to strengthen Israel's security position along its northern frontier.
