(Alliance News) - European exchanges opened trading in the red Monday after the elections in Spain failed to produce a clear winner and trading rooms warmed their engines for another round of central bank appointments, as well as a corporate calendar that is starting to get busier with quarterly reports.

The Federal Reserve will announce its rate decision on Wednesday, followed by the European Central Bank the next day. Both central banks are expected to raise their respective interest rates by 25 basis points.

With another hike expected for the Fed and the ECB, market attention will be focused on the fact that the moves could mark the end of the central banks' respective hike cycles, at least in key rates.

The FTSE Mib opened down 0.2 percent at 28,795.03.

In Europe, London's FTSE 100 is giving up 0.3 percent, Paris' CAC 40 is down 0.4 percent, and Frankfurt's DAX 40 is down minus 0.2 percent.

Among the smaller lists, however, the Mid-Cap is rising with 0.1 percent to 42,186.67, the Small-Cap is advancing equally with 0.1 percent to 26,711.11, and Italy Growth marks a plus 0.2 percent to 9,082.42.

In the princely listings of Piazza Affari, Banca Monte dei Paschi marks a minus 1.8 percent, following up its previous three bearish sessions.

Iveco Group, on the other hand, is retreating 0.7 percent, with price in the EUR8.08 area, heading for its fourth downtrending session.

Tenaris, on the other hand, is giving up 0.6 percent, with new price at EUR14.75 per share.

Stellantis -- in the money with 0.5 percent -- and Samsung SDI announced Monday that they have signed a memorandum of understanding to build their second battery production plant in the U.S. as part of the StarPlus Energy joint venture. The plant, scheduled to start production in 2027, aims to have an initial annual production capacity of 34 gigawatt hours.

Good buys also on Recordati, bullish with 1.1 percent with price at EUR45.83.

On the MidCap, Eurogroup Laminations marks minus 1.9%, in its third bearish session.

Also losing ground at the rear is Webuild, which is leaving 1.0% on the parterre in the wake of Friday night's 1.7% loss.

Leading the list are MFE Class A shares, which are advancing 1.7 percent, as is Mondadori Editore, which is advancing by the same percentage, rearing its head after five bearish sessions.

Iren, on the other hand, advances 1.1 percent on the heels of Friday night's 1.3 percent gain.

On the SmallCap, FILA scores a plus 2.6 percent, beating Friday night's gain by the same percentage.

d'Amico, on the other hand, advances 1.9 percent to EUR3.48, after the 1.6 percent red on the eve.

Mondo Tv - up 0.6 percent - announced the signing of a licensing agreement with Inscenando Srls. The agreement provides for the development of the character costume of "The Gruffalò" for meet&greet events at shopping malls and at events in public and/or private areas The contract and thus the license will last for 2 years and is limited to Italy, Vatican City, San Marino and Canton Ticino and provides for a royalty of 12% on sales.

Restart is giving up 6.0%, repricing in the EUR0.23 area. There is high trading volume on the stock, which is close to 322,000 pieces compared to a three-month daily average of around 31,000.

Bioera, on the other hand, marks minus 2.9 percent, after a 3 percent gain in the previous session.

Positive note and list head for Bastogi, with Italy's oldest listed company advancing 3.5 percent.

Among SMEs, AAtech scores a plus 7.4 percent, repeating Friday's gain when it took home the same salty assets.

Bellini, on the other hand, advances with 4.3 percent, after four sessions ended among the bearish.

At the tail end, Arterra gives up 3.5 percent, after four sessions of positive balance.

Agatos steps back 3.0%, following up on the previous two sessions that closed in the letter.

In New York on Friday, the Dow Jones closed in fractional green, the Nasdaq down 0.2%, and the S&P 500 closed just above par.

Among currencies, the euro changed hands at USD1.1080 versus USD1.1121 in Friday's European stock close while the pound was worth USD1.2848 from USD1.2852 on Friday evening.

Among commodities, Brent crude is worth USD80.50 per barrel versus USD80.51 per barrel at Friday's close. Gold, on the other hand, trades at USD1,963.00 an ounce from USD1,960.00 an ounce on Friday evening.

On Monday's macroeconomic calendar, the UK PMI report is due at 1030 CEST.

From the States, at 1545 CEST, comes the manufacturing PMI, at 1730 CEST an auction of 3- and 6-month Treasury bonds is scheduled, and at 1900 CEST the maturity at auction will be the 2-year maturity.

Among companies, coming up are the results of Autostrade Meridionali, Cofle, Farmacosmo, GEL, Grifal, Italgas, Poste Italiane, Sogefi and Take Off.
