STOCKHOLM--Volvo said Friday it is proposing Par Boman to be appointed new chairman and board member at the truck maker's annual general meeting in March 2024.

Volvo's current Chairman, Carl-Henric Svanberg, previously announced that he wouldn't stand for re-election.

"Par Boman has extensive experience from serving on the boards of many Swedish listed companies in various industries and is recognized as a highly skilled leader," said Anders Oscarsson, member of the Volvo election committee.

Boman is currently Chairman of Volvo's election committee, but will step down from the role if he is elected Chairman of the board.
