Alstom has signed a contract worth over €500 million with the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) for the supply of a battery-powered tramway.

This turnkey, fully integrated tramway system will comprise 20 Citadis B trainsets.

Serving 17 strategically-located stations, it will facilitate access to AlUla's five must-see historic districts, including several UNESCO World Heritage Sites: AlUla Old Town (district 1), Dadan (district 2), Jabal Ikmah (district 3), Nabataean Horizon (district 4) and the historic town of Hegra (district 5).

' This project is truly unique because it combines sustainable development, integration into a natural setting and a unique passenger experience, in a region rich in history and cultural gems', said Mohamed Khalil, Managing Director of Alstom Saudi Arabia
