Today's announcement is in addition to previously committed $1 million to humanitarian organizations

American Express is teaming up with long-standing partner Hilton to donate one million room nights across Europe to refugees impacted by the crisis in Ukraine and to the first responders who are helping them.

As conditions worsen for people impacted by the war in Ukraine, American Express is continuing to evolve its humanitarian support.

"More than two million people have fled Ukraine and have had to make the unimaginable decision to leave their homes, and all that they knew behind," said American Express Chairman and CEO Stephen J. Squeri. "While we can never replace what's been lost, American Express is honored to partner with Hilton again to donate one million rooms to refugees and first responders impacted by this devastating war. Our hope is that we can provide some relief during this incredibly challenging time."

Hilton President and CEO Christopher J. Nassetta said: "Our hotels have always been part of the fabric of the communities we serve, and we are committed to supporting the places where we live and work. "Even in these dark times, we believe the light and warmth of hospitality can make a difference when it matters most, which is why we are welcoming refugees and supporting relief efforts in countries across Europe."

Today's announcement builds on Hilton and American Express' partnership in 2020 when the companies donated 1 million hotel room nights across the U.S. to frontline medical professionals leading the fight against COVID-19.

American Express also previously committed $1,000,000 in aid toward ongoing humanitarian efforts in the Ukraine crisis, including partnerships with the International Rescue Committee, the International Medical Corps, the American Red Cross and UNICEF.
