BASF announced that its sales for the 1st quarter totaled 17.55 billion euros, down 12.2% on the same period a year earlier.

Sales were down in all segments: Chemicals (-2.4%), Materials (-10.5%), Industrial Solutions (-4%), Surface Technologies (-26.9%), Nutrition & Care (-5.3%), Agricultural Solutions (-10.6%) and Other (-16%).

EBIT was down 9.5% at ME 1689, while net profit came in at ME 1368, down 12.4% on Q1 2023.

Adjusted EPS came to €1.68 (-12.9%).

Against this backdrop, BASF SE's Board of Directors and Supervisory Board will propose a dividend of E3.40 per share, corresponding to the previous year's level, to the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.

BASF confirms its 2024 forecasts, including EBITDA before special items of between E8 and 8.6 bn and FCF of between E0.1 and 0.6 bn.
