Oil giant BP will report third quarter results tomorrow morning. Shares are up 80 per cent on the year but are not trading as high as in 2010 and 2014 - when oil prices were at a similarly high level to today's $86 a barrel, note AJ Bell analysts.

BT will report first-half results on Thursday morning, with investors expecting to hear positive news on the company's cost-saving exercise. AJ Bell note that the shares extraordinarily trade no higher now than in January 1985 - just after privitisation. New chairman Adam Crozier takes the big chair at the board table on December 1 - he'll hope for positive news to start with.
