BUTANTA, Brazil (AP) _ Braskem SA (BAK) on Thursday reported first-quarter profit of $743.1 million.

On a per-share basis, the Butanta, Brazil-based company said it had net income of $1.87. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $1.02 per share.

The petrochemical company posted revenue of $5.11 billion in the period.

Braskem shares have fallen 27% since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined 21% in the last 12 months.
