Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc. announced the appointment of Narayan Iyengar and Lesli Rotenberg to its board of directors. Iyengar served as the Senior Vice President, Digital and E-Commerce of Albertsons Companies, from 2017 to 2020. Prior to that, from 2013 to 2017, he served as Vice President, E-Commerce and Digital Analytics of The Walt Disney Company. From 2005 to 2013, Iyengar was a consultant at McKinsey & Company and served global clients on topics related to business technology and digital transformation. Currently, Iyengar is engaged with a number of venture backed companies. He serves as the Chief Product Officer & General Manager of FabFitFun, a member of Board of Directors of UCM Digital Health and an advisor to Hailify, Inc. Rotenberg is the former Chief Programming Executive & General Manager, Children?s Media & Education of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), serving in that role from February 2016 to June 2021. While at PBS, she also served as General Manager, Children?s Programming from 2005 to 2016 and as Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications from 2000 to 2016. Prior to that, Rotenberg served for ten years at Discovery Communications, Inc. in a variety of senior level management positions with strategic responsibilities for positioning The Discovery Channel, TLC and Animal Planet media brands to consumers, advertisers, cable affiliates and promotion partners.
Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc. is an experiential specialty retailer where children and their families can create their own stuffed animals by participating in the stuffing, fluffing, dressing, accessorizing, and naming of their own teddy bears and other plush toys. Its segments include direct-to-consumer (DTC), commercial, and international franchising. Its DTC segment includes the operating activities of corporately-managed stores, other retail-delivered operations and online sales. Its commercial segment includes transactions with other businesses and is comprised of wholesale sales of merchandise, supplies and fixtures, licensing the Companyâs intellectual properties for third-party use, and entertainment activities. Its international franchising segment includes the activities of franchisees who operate store locations in certain countries and includes development fees, sales-based royalties, merchandise, supplies and fixture sales. It has over 359 corporate-managed stores globally.
